Getting Your First CNA Job

You are most likely dying to land your first job in your CNA career after freshly completing all requirements in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. There are people who are already working as a CNA even while still attending nursing school. It is actually easy to seek your first ever CNA job.

Looking for help in the classified ads section in the newspaper and on the internet is one of the things that you should do first when looking for a job as a CNA. Most of the time, you will see advertisements for fully certified nursing assistants in the healthcare facilities. If there is a CNA job in your local area that interests you, apply for it.

You can ask assistance in finding a job from your career counselor at the school where you have taken your CNA training. The career counselor will be able to tell you in which healthcare facility regularly hires new nursing assistants. If you had your training as a CNA in a hospital or nursing home, you can inquire if they have a current opening at their facility where you can apply as a CNA.

Contact other students from your training class and check who already found a job. If there are students who are already employed, try to seek advice on where to look for jobs. If you know anyone who already works as a nursing assistant or who is already employed at a hospital, ask them to let you know if they know any CNA job openings at the facility where they work or other local facilities.

Contact continuing care communities, hospitals and other healthcare facilities in your area. Ask about any information regarding any job vacancy for certified nursing assistants. Also get in touch with some home health agencies for more information about applying for a job as a home health aide. In some instances, you might need to travel around your local area and provide basic care for more than one patient all throughout the week. This is something you will need to keep in mind if you consider a job as a home health aide.

In some cases, you might need to work as a personal care aide or non-certified nursing assistant until a job position becomes available for a certified nursing assistant. Some healthcare facilities will hire nursing assistants and non-certified aides for certain job duties. You could take a job in one of these positions until a CNA job position opens up at the facility.

Other than all these, you can also find a job working with patients in their own home who needs your assistance. Check your local newspaper for a job in personal care aide. Most often than not, it is very easy to land a job like this. You can also put an ad in the newspaper offering your CNA services.
